This article will walk you through understanding the checkbox available when creating an Automation Rule that send text messages.
Understanding Promotional vs. Transactional
- Promotional Messaging: According to TCPA/DNC regulations, promotional messages are those that promote a product, service, or offer, which are typically subject to stricter opt-in and consent requirements.
- Transactional Messaging: These messages are related to completing a transaction or providing essential information and are generally exempt from the same restrictions.
Best Practices: Audit & Update
- We recommend that studios review all automated texting rules, considering their target audience, to ensure compliance with TCPA requirements.
- For your Existing Automation Rules: No changes to current automation rules.
- For your New Automation Rules: By default, new automation rules will be set to "promotional." Studios will need to unselect the box to set it as a transactional message.
