This article is about steps to take to troubleshoot the Orbit MS7120 RS232/LTPN Serial Scanner - This scanner is required for the check-in tab inside of the ClubReady Desktop App. It is a serial connection scanner that requires a "serial to USB' adapter cable. *Note* - The Orbit LS USB scanner can be programmed to emulate a serial RS232 scanner but is not recommended.
1) Make sure scanner is plugged in and being read by computer as a COM port
1. Open Device Manager:
Click: Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager (under "Devices and Printers")
2. In the Device Manager list:
Look under ports and find the Virtual Com Port assigned to your scanner ie. ATEN USB to Serial Bridge (COM8)
If the scanner is plugged in but not showing as a COM port please make sure the drivers for the 'serial to USB' adapter are installed correctly.
For driver installation instructions you will need to follow the manufacturers instructions that came with your 'serial to USB' adapter.
Once you have confirmed that the scanner is plugged and being read by the computer as a Virtual Com Port please proceed to the next step.
2) Make sure the COM port is being picked up in the check-in tab inside of the ClubReady Desktop App
1. Open ClubReady Desktop App:
After opening the ClubReady Desktop App navigate to the check-in tab and verify the correct COM port is showing up in the Scanner Settings
After you have selected the correct device from the Com Port drop-down menu click Save and Close
If the scanner is still not operating properly please submit a support ticket.
