The two main types of scanners: Input Scanner and Read-Only Scanner. This article is about the different barcode scanners compatible with ClubReady.
Please Note:
- Scanners compatible with ClubReady can be categorized into 2 types. Input & Read-Only
- ClubReady offers two methods of Check-In that require two different types of scanners.
- One is a web based kiosk (runs in a web browser) and requires a 'keyboard wedge with carriage return' scanner - Input Scanner
- The other runs as an installed application on the club's PC - The ClubReady Desktop Application - requires a serial RS232 scanner assigned to a COM port - Read-Only Scanner
- Please follow this LINK for detailed comparison of the 2 methods of check-in.
- *Important Note* - several of these scanners can be programmed to operate both ways - ONCE PROGRAMMED FOR ONE TASK THEY WILL NOT PERFORM THE OTHER TASK without resetting scanner back to factory default and programmed for the task at hand.
Input Scanner
The two supported 'keyboard wedge with carriage return' scanners:
- Honeywell Genesis MK7580-30B38-02-A: USB scanner that will read barcodes on smartphones and must be configured for "carriage return" (CR) - Please follow this LINK for instructions on how to Add CR Suffix bar code
- Honeywell Voyager MK9520-32A38: USB scanner that is a 'keyboard wedge with carriage return' scanner out of the box. - will NOT read smart phones
The 'keyboard wedge with carriage return' scanner can be used to input barcode data into ClubReady for both POS product setup and barcode data for members/staff accounts. It can be used to scan products in the POS itself. It can also be used with the web kiosk method of check-in.
The 'keyboard wedge with carriage return' scanner CANNOT be used with the ClubReady Desktop Application.
Read Only Scanner
Supported scanner model that can be used with The ClubReady Desktop Application:
- Honeywell Genesis MK7580-30B38-02-A: USB scanner that will read barcodes on smartphones and must be configured to emulate serial RS232 assigned a COM port. Please click HERE for programming Instructions
The ClubReady Desktop Application requires a scanner that is programmed as a COM port (RS232). It will NOT input data into the system and is on 'stand by' at all times waiting for check-ins.
Resetting Scanner to Factory Defaults
If for whatever reason you need to reset the scanner back to factory defaults, simply scan the barcode Standard Product Defaults found on page 6 of the Quick Start Guide.
