Before You Begin
Review the following before starting the installation:
Hardware Requirements
- Only one specific model of the Honeywell Genesis barcode scanner is compatible with both the ClubReady Desktop App and Mobile Member App: MK7580-30B38-02-A. This model number is printed on the shipping box. The scanner itself will display P/N: 7580G-2; this model alone will not work with the ClubReady Desktop App without the correct model number confirmed on the box.
- Do not use a USB hub. The scanner must be plugged directly into the computer.
- The barcode scanner must remain unplugged during driver installation. Do not plug it in until instructed.
Software & Access Requirements
- You will need access to Setup > General > ClubReady Desktop to download the app and retrieve your club's unique Activation Key.
- The installation must be run as Administrator. Make sure you have the appropriate permissions on the computer before starting.
- The ClubReady Desktop App does not support Windows sleep or hibernate mode. Before completing setup, ensure the computer is set to Never sleep or hibernate.
- The app does not support PC user account switching. Each user must fully sign out before the next user signs in.
What You'll Need Before Starting
- The correct barcode scanner model confirmed on hand and unplugged.
- Administrator access on the Windows computer.
- Access to ClubReady Setup to retrieve the Activation Key.
- The Quick Start Guide included with the scanner; you will need it to scan the USB Serial programming barcode during setup.
Phase 1: Download & Install the ClubReady Desktop App
Step 1 — Retrieve the App & Activation Key
Navigate to Setup > General > ClubReady Desktop and scroll down to the yellow shaded area. Here you will find:
- A download link for the ClubReady Desktop App.
- An Application Key unique to your club — this directs the app to send check-ins to your specific location.
Right-click the download link and select Save link as to save the setup.exe file to the local computer. Copy the Application Key to your clipboard or save it in a text file for reference — staff without Setup access will need it later.
⚠️ Confirm the barcode scanner is unplugged before proceeding.
Step 2 — Run the Installer as Administrator
Locate the downloaded setup.exe file, right-click it, and select Run as administrator. This will launch the Prerequisites Wizard, which installs the ClubReady Desktop App and the barcode scanner's serial emulation drivers.
Step 3 — Complete the Prerequisites Wizard
Click Next through each screen of the Prerequisites Wizard until it completes. When prompted, click the green Install icon to proceed.
Note: You may see a message stating "SigPlus.ocx failed to register." This is expected on computers without the Topaz SigPlus signature pad software installed. Select Ignore to continue — this will not affect the app's functionality.
Step 4 — Install the Serial Emulation Drivers
The wizard will prompt you to install the Honeywell HSM Serial Driver. When asked who to install the driver for, select Everyone. Click Next to proceed. A command window will appear briefly while the drivers install — this is normal.
Once complete, the message "ClubReady Desktop has been successfully installed" will display. Click Finish.
Phase 2: Program the Barcode Scanner
Step 5 — Open Devices and Printers
Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog, type control printers, and click OK. This opens the Devices and Printers screen in Control Panel.
Step 6 — Plug in the Scanner
Plug the barcode scanner directly into the computer (not through a USB hub). The scanner will appear under Devices as a keyboard labeled 7580.
Step 7 — Scan the USB Serial Barcode
Locate the USB Serial barcode in the Quick Start Guide included with your scanner and scan it. This programs the scanner to emulate a serial connection and assigns it a COM port.
A clock icon will appear next to the scanner while it installs. Once complete, the scanner will reappear with an assigned COM port (for example, COM3). The scanner is now ready to be used in the ClubReady Desktop App.
Phase 3: Configure the App
Step 8 — Launch the ClubReady Desktop App
Click Start and locate ClubReady Desktop under Recently Added or the ClubReady folder. After the first launch, the app will add itself to the startup folder and open automatically every time the computer starts — this is the only time you need to launch it manually.
Once started, a notification will appear in the lower right corner: "ClubReady Desktop has started."
Step 9 — Add the App to the Taskbar
For easy access, add the app icon to the taskbar:
- Right-click the taskbar and select Taskbar Settings.
- Scroll down to Notification area and click Select which icons appear on the taskbar.
- Find ClubReady.WPF.Desktop and toggle it On.
The app icon will now appear in the lower right corner of the taskbar near the clock.
Step 10 — Open the App & Sign In
Opening the app is a two-step process:
- Left-click the taskbar icon and select Open.
- Click the icon that appears on the left side of the taskbar to open the ClubReady Desktop Control Panel.
On the Desktop Login screen, enter a local staff account username and password and click Login. This account does not require ClubReady admin rights.
Step 11 — Enter the Activation Key & Select the Scanner
After logging in, the app defaults to the Printing tab. Click the Check-In tab, then click Settings.
- Paste your Activation Key into the top field.
- Select the correct COM port from the Com-Port dropdown (for example, COM3).
- Adjust sound settings if needed; the app plays sounds via the computer's speakers when check-in activity occurs. Sounds can be muted or replaced with custom .wav files using the Browse buttons. Volume is controlled by the computer's main volume control.
- Click Save and Close.
Phase 4: Final Checks
Step 12 — Verify the Connection
Back on the Check-In tab, confirm the following:
- The scanner status shows a green checkmark.
- Your club name and unique ClubReady number appear above the Settings link.
Step 13 — Test a Check-In
Scan a client's barcode and verify the check-in appears correctly in ClubReady.
Step 14 — Test Staff Clock-In
Scan a staff member's barcode. The app will display the staff member's name and ID with In and Out buttons. Click In to clock in for payroll reporting. Note that members do not need to interact with the app — they only need to scan their barcode to check in.
Step 15 — Disable Sleep & Hibernate
Confirm the computer is set to never go into sleep or hibernate mode. The ClubReady Desktop App does not support Windows sleep or hibernate, and the app will stop functioning if the computer enters either state.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I have a Genesis 7580 scanner but it isn't being recognized by the ClubReady Desktop App. What should I check first?
A: The most common cause is an incompatible scanner model. There are several variations of the Genesis 7580 — only the MK7580-30B38-02-A model works with both the ClubReady Desktop App and the Mobile Member App. Check the model number on the original shipping box, not the scanner itself. If the box is unavailable, contact your hardware supplier to confirm the model purchased.
Q: The installation prompted a message saying "SigPlus.ocx failed to register." Is something wrong?
A: No, this is expected behavior on computers that do not have the Topaz SigPlus electronic signature pad software installed. Select Ignore to continue the installation. This message will not affect the functionality of the ClubReady Desktop App or barcode scanner.
Q: The app is installed but the Check-In tab shows a red exclamation next to the scanner. What does this mean?
A: This indicates the app cannot detect the scanner. The most likely causes are that the scanner hasn't been selected yet in the Com-Port dropdown under Settings, or the scanner was not programmed using the USB Serial barcode in the Quick Start Guide. Work through steps 29–34 to confirm the Activation Key is entered, the correct COM port is selected, and the scanner status shows a green checkmark before testing a check-in.
Q: Do I need to manually start the ClubReady Desktop App every time the computer restarts?
A: No, after the initial setup, the app adds itself to the computer's startup folder and will launch automatically every time the computer starts or a PC user signs in. The only time you need to manually start it is the first time after installation. For easy access, make sure to add the app icon to the taskbar notification area so it is always visible and accessible.
