This article will provide a list of keywords users can type if they wish to opt out, opt in or if they need further assistance from the studio.
PLEASE NOTE: Ensuring strict compliance with all federal and international regulations is critical, therefore, ClubReady Connect complies with the US CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) of 1991 and the TCPA amendments as well as recommends following the CTIA – Wireless Association and Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) best practices. Industry standard keywords are utilized for opt-out and opt-in requests.
Opt-Out:
- Stop
- End
- Cancel
- Unsubscribe
- Quit
- Revoke
- Opt out
How do opt out keywords work?
- Connect: Honors the keyword used singularly OR if used as the first word in a sentence (to opt out customers that message in STOP who use signatures).
- Exception for the word "Cancel": Connect will only honor that word used singularly. We recommend studios to update booking reminder language to included specific request for cancellations such as "Please respond with "C" if you wish to cancel your class or "R" if you need to reschedule".
- ClubReady Core SMS: Honors the keyword used singularly only.
Once a customer sends one of these keywords, they will be automatically unsubscribed from future promotional messages. You can check their status by navigating to ClubReady > search for user > Work It, where it will indicate "Customer has opted out and chosen not to receive further messages."
Best Practice for Booking Reminders: Avoiding Opt-Outs
To prevent customers from accidentally opting out of future communications, we recommend that booking reminders include a specific request for cancellations. Instead of just asking customers to reply with the word “cancel,” try using a more controlled phrase such as:
"Please respond with 'C' (for cancel) if you wish to cancel your class."
By asking for a specific letter (such as "C" or "R" for reschedule) it minimizes the risk of the system misinterpreting the response as an opt-out request. This ensures that your customers can easily cancel their booking without unintentionally unsubscribing from future reminders or updates.
