This article will guide you through assigning or updating a barcode for a prospect, member, or customer in ClubReady. Barcodes are used for check-in and access management and can be assigned or updated from two locations within a client's profile.

Before You Begin
Make sure you have the following before getting started:

Permissions required:
- Customer Management: General - Can Access Client Options
- Customer Management: General - Can Update Client Barcodes
- Barcode check-in must be enabled under your Check-In Web Kiosk settings for this option to appear.
How to Assign or Update a Barcode
Option 1 — Through the All Detail Page: Search for and select the desired client. Click the All Detail button and navigate to Check-In > Check-In Kiosk Barcode Setup.

Choose from the following options:
- Manually Enter Barcode — Type in the barcode number directly.
- Generate And Assign a Barcode — Have ClubReady automatically assign a barcode number.
- Scan And Assign An Existing Barcode — If you have a ClubReady approved key-tag scanner (not orbital), click this option and scan the barcode to assign it.
Note: If the client already has a barcode assigned, click Delete The Current Barcode first before selecting one of the options above to assign a new one.

Option 2 — Through the Client Summary Page: Search for and select the desired client. Click the edit pencil next to Barcode on the Client Summary screen. You can either type in a new barcode number or scan a new barcode using a ClubReady approved key-tag scanner (not orbital).

Note: If the client already has a barcode assigned, highlight the existing barcode with your mouse and press the Backspace or Delete key on your keyboard to remove it before assigning a new one.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why don't I have the option to update or assign a client's barcode?
A: You must have the appropriate permissions to update or assign a client barcode. The required permissions are Member Management — Can Access Client Options and Member Management — Can Update Client Barcodes. Contact your administrator if these permissions need to be enabled for your staff profile.
Q: Can I update a barcode from the Check-In Monitor?
A: No. Barcodes cannot be updated directly from the Check-In Monitor. If you need to update a client's barcode while at check-in, click on their name to navigate to their full profile page where you can make the update.
Q: What type of scanner is compatible with the Scan And Assign An Existing Barcode option?
A: A ClubReady approved key-tag scanner is required for this option. Please note that orbital scanners are not compatible with this feature.
