UPDATE: The new Click-to-Cancel law will now take effect on July 14th, 2025.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced a new "Click-to-Cancel" rule aimed at protecting consumers by requiring all gyms and fitness services to offer a clear, effortless way to cancel memberships online. This means no confusing steps, no hidden fees—just a simple, straightforward cancellation process.
Quick Overview of Click-to-Cancel Policy:
- Easy, Equal Cancellation: Cancelling a subscription must be as simple as signing up, and available through the same channel (e.g., if sign-up was online, cancellation must be online too).
- Immediate & Barrier-Free: Consumers must be able to cancel right away, without unnecessary steps, delays, or hidden obstacles.
- Transparent Terms: Before billing begins, businesses must clearly disclose all relevant cancellation terms.

Options ClubReady Currently Has:
- Members can securely access their agreements and cancel their memberships immediately through an online cancellation link. Alternatively, the system can be configured so that cancellations are reviewed and approved before taking effect.

- Our custom branded app, myFitApp, has a native agreement cancellation option that can easily be added in your current app. This option allows users to view their active agreements and cancel an agreement immediately. Check out how the feature will function within the app here.
- Our API can be utilized for a customized agreement cancellation experience. Creating this unique experience will require access to our API (subject to API fees) and will be the brand’s responsibility in building their own agreement cancellation process if using the API.
