This article will guide you through cloning an existing email template for blasting.
Once an email template is used in a blast it can no longer be edited. If you need to modify the template you can clone it, make any desired changes and then set the new template in your next blast.
1. Access Email Template Setup
Navigate to Setup > Communications > Email Templates.
Click the + Add New tab in the top-right corner and select the button CLONE AN EXISTING TEMPLATE. This option will display all active email templates. Enter a name for the new template and select the template you wish to clone. Click the button Add The New Email Template to generate your new template.
2. Verify General Settings for Email Template
Clicking on the button Add The New Email Template will advance you to the General tab. Click the check box for the option can be selected by staff so the email template to be selected by staff when sending an email blast to Prospects or Customers/Members. Next verify that the [unsubscribe] tag is included in your cloned template. Click the Update button to save any changes you have made to this screen. Click the Editor tab to continue to the next step.
3. Editing The Content
Clicking the Editor tab will open the editing screen for your new email template. The formatting tools bar is located at the top of the text/editing screen. Click in the editing area of the screen to add and modify text like you would in any word processing program. Images can be added from the image url button in the editing bar or from the file drop-down at the top. Tags can be manually typed or added from the "Insert a tag" drop-down in the top-left corner of the screen. Verify you have the [unsubscribe] tag or insert it wherever you wish for it to appear. Click the SAVE button to update all of your changes.

1. Why do I need the [unsubscribe] tag?
The unsubscribe tag enables you to send the email template as an email blast. This gives the member the option to unsubscribe from promotional emails.
2. What happens if I spell the tag wrong?
The tag will not pull info if it is not exact to the spelling under the "tag Info" tab.
