1. Accessing Email Template Setup
Navigate to Setup > Communications > Email Templates.
The next step is to click the Add New tab in the top-right corner of this screen and then select the button CLONE AN EXISTING TEMPLATE. Clicking the CLONE AN EXISTING TEMPLATE button will display all active email templates. Enter a unique name for the new template and select the template you wish to clone. Click the button Add The New Email Template to generate your new template.
2. Verify The General Settings For The Email Template
Clicking on the button Add The New Email Template will advance you to the General tab. Click the check box for the option can be selected by staff so the email template to be selected by staff for email blasts. Next verify that the [unsubscribe] tag is included in your cloned template. Click the Update button to save any changes you have made to this screen. Click the Editor tab to continue to the next step.
3. Adding The Communications Preference Tag
Clicking the Editor tab will open the editing screen for your new email template. The formatting tools bar is located at the top of the text/editing screen. Click in the editing area of the screen and type your message and modify the font, add images just like you would in any word processing program.
Click on the screen where you want the tag [communicationprefsurl] to appear. Manually type or select the tag from the insert a tag drop-down list. If you do not have the [unsubscribe] tag insert it wherever you wish for it to appear. Click the SAVE button to update all of your changes.
NOTE: Notice that the editor will show a red underline showing tags as spelled incorrectly. Tags cannot include spaces so ignore the spell check suggestion.
