If you’re experiencing issues activating your Ingenico Link 2500 tap-to-pay payment terminal and are not receiving an activation key, follow the steps below to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Common Cause: Network Configuration (Double NAT)
The most frequent reason for activation failure is double NAT (Network Address Translation). This occurs when your network setup includes multiple routers, which can interfere with the terminal’s ability to communicate with our servers.
What You May Experience:
- The device does not display an activation key as expected.
- The activation process appears to stop without any error message.
How to Resolve the Issue
1. Check Your Network Setup
If you have two routers in your setup (e.g., a modem/router from your internet provider and an additional router for your internal network), your network may be using double NAT, which can prevent activation.
- If your network must remain in a double NAT configuration, the Ingenico Link 2500 must be connected to the ISP-provided wireless network (not the customer-provided Wi-Fi network).
- If you want the terminal to remain connected to your customer-provided Wi-Fi network, you must configure the ISP-provided router in bridge mode or passthrough mode (depending on router capabilities).
- Contact your internet service provider (ISP) for guidance on setting up bridge mode if needed.
2. Avoid Identical SSID Names
Using the same network name (SSID) for multiple Wi-Fi networks can cause connection issues for payment terminals.
- If you need two separate networks, assign unique SSID names to avoid confusion.
- Ensure that your Ingenico Link 2500 terminal is connected to the correct network.
3. Restart Your Network & Device
- Power cycle your router(s) – unplug for 30 seconds, then plug back in.
- Restart your Ingenico Link/2500 terminal and try the activation process again.
