Activation Code - An activation code (also known as an activation key) is used to activate the software after installation. Activation ensures that the software is genuine and legally licensed
Chip Reader - Is a merchant terminal that reads and writes a credit or debit card that contains a microcontroller chip. The chip and PIN system includes electrical connections the card makes with the reader. To make a payment, the card is inserted into the reader and removed when the transaction is completed. The chip on the card enables the holder to purchase goods and services, enter restricted areas, access medical, financial, or other records, or perform other operations requiring data stored on the microchip
Contactless - Technologies that allow a smart card, mobile phone, etc. to connect wirelessly to an electronic reader, typically to make a payment
Core - FIS/Worldpay platform that processes contactless transactions
Cutover - A change from old to new systems or equipment, or a transitional period in a project where the product or service is made ready for use by the end user.
Graphic Village – Vendor used to create and print the ClubReady start-up document that is sent with terminals at POS Portal
Ingenico - Is a France-based company that provides technology for secure electronic transactions based on the manufacture of point of sale (POS) payment terminals. Ingenico terminals are used to process ClubReady’s contactless transactions.
Label – Display name for POS device in CR checkout application
Lane – POS device path between setup and processing
Lane 3000 - The Ingenico Lane/3000 is a customer-facing payment terminal device that supports MSR (magnetic stripe), EMV (chip), and NFC (contactless) payments.
Link 2500 - Is a customer-facing payment terminal device that supports MSR (magnetic stripe), EMV (chip), and NFC (contactless) payments Optimized payment solution for all existing infrastructure, thanks to versatile connectivity options.
Magnetic Card reader - Is a hardware device that retrieves information from the magnetic stripe on the back of a plastic card, such as credit cards, debit cards, or access cards
Mer – ODIN Merchant ID, differs from the acquirer’s (i.e. FIS or Worldpay, Stripe, etc.) merchant identification number.
MID or Merchant ID - Is a unique identification number attached to a business that tells the payment processing systems involved in a transaction where to send settlement. The number is used to clearly identify a merchant who is attempting to process a transaction to both the processing company and the customer’s bank (or card-issuing bank)
Networks – Internet service providers that allow our POS Devices to stay connected to our POS terminals.
NFC – Near-field communication
Odin - Is a Payfac-As-A-Service technology provider that offers a simple and fast integration for SaaS and embedded payments companies. ODIN removes the complexity that comes with integrating to multiple acquirers and PSPs. Their integration to different gateways allows for payment transaction processing, reporting, and onboarding solutions for different platforms at once.
Startup guide – Document included with terminal purchases that provides the location for customers to activate terminals and get support.
POS Device – ClubReady term for contactless hardware
POS terminal – ClubReady term for secure web page or application that allows studios to select products or services to process a payment
Profile – Template of features that describe the process flow in the POS device including but not limited to AVS,
Reboot - An act or instance of booting a hardware or device system again
RFID - Radio-frequency identification
Status – Terminal activation position new, activated or deactivated
Swiping - Pass (a swipe card) through an electronic device designed to read and process the information encoded on it.
Tap - RFID and NFC technologies enable the card to communicate with the card reader when the card is held near the reader during a transaction. When you hold your contactless card to the contactless reader, it securely authenticates your card information. Then the POS device sends the transaction to the card Issuer. The issuer then analyzes the transaction before approving it.
Tap-and-go process - Is the ability to tap our card on a POS device. It usually takes less than a second, which is quicker than inserting or dipping a chip card—and way faster than using cash.
