Due to regulations regarding SMS and MMS platforms in the United States and Canada, ClubReady needs to comply with new regulations when it comes to our messaging services to remain compliant. In cooperation with our messaging partners, we need to inform you of what may be filtered, blocked or are considered forbidden message categories.
Filtering/Blocked Messages (Error code 30007)
If you are seeing this error on the failed message log, your message content was flagged as going against carrier guidelines. Your message was filtered (blocked). Examples of messaging that would be blocked are spam, phishing, and fraud. The filtering system is in place to protect mobile subscribers from spam or other forms of malicious or unwanted messages.
Wireless carriers have filtering systems in place as well. These carrier filters are used to block abusive traffic, as well as to enforce rules or regulations about what types of messaging are allowed to that country or mobile network.
Common Reasons for Message Filtering
URL shortening: Do not send links that have been shortened using shared public URL shorteners, such as TinyUrl or free Bitly links. United States carrier policies discourage the use of shared public URL shorteners. Obfuscated URLs are common in spoofing/phishing attempts, and will be filtered.
Message Content: Limit usage of emojis, or unnecessary special characters/capitalization, and watch your grammar and spelling. Typically, these messages are structured in a way to attempt to evade detection of unwanted messaging, and your messages will be filtered.
Forbidden Use Cases: Do not send content that is illegal in your sending area, or is forbidden by carriers. The 2 main categories that will affect you as our customers most are the mentioning of any contests or raffles or the mention of CBD products. For more information on forbidden message categories see Forbidden Message Categories in the US and Canada (Short Code, Toll-Free, and Long Code) – Twilio Support
If there is a violation of the forbidden message list:
- your number may be suspended for a short term for a first offense
- and a possible permanent suspension for any subsequent offense.
It is our desire to avoid any communication disruption between you and your customers. If you have any questions about these new rules, please reach out to our customer support team.
